BMW S58 with MuchBoost Hybrid Turbos – 845 HP & 1038 Nm Extreme Performance Build

BMW S58 with MuchBoost hybrid turbos delivering 845 HP and 1038 Nm extreme performance build

The BMW S58 engine is one of the most advanced and capable modern turbocharged inline-six performance engines. Found in models such as the BMW M3 and M4, it offers exceptional strength, efficiency, and tuning potential, making it an ideal platform for extreme performance upgrades.

In this project, the goal was to push the S58 platform far beyond factory limits using a properly engineered MuchBoost Hybrid Turbo upgrade, while maintaining control, reliability, and usable power delivery. Thanks to expert ECU calibration by Vagtune.pl, this build achieved truly remarkable results.

After the full upgrade and professional tuning, the car delivered:
– 845 HP
– 1038 Nm of torque

These figures place this S58-powered BMW firmly in the supercar performance territory.

Stock Performance

From the factory, the BMW S58 engine already delivers outstanding performance, with stock output depending on the model typically ranging between:
– 480–510 HP
– 600–650 Nm

While these numbers are extremely impressive, the factory turbochargers and supporting hardware become a limiting factor when targeting power levels well beyond 700 HP.

Upgraded Performance with MuchBoost

After installing the MuchBoost S58 Hybrid Turbo Upgrade and completing all supporting modifications and professional ECU calibration, the vehicle reached:

After Upgrade Performance:
• 845 HP
• 1038 Nm

This clearly demonstrates the enormous performance potential of the S58 engine when combined with a high-flow turbo system and a properly engineered setup.

MuchBoost S58 Hybrid Turbochargers

At the heart of this build is the MuchBoost S58 Hybrid Turbo System, designed specifically for the BMW S58 engine platform.

These hybrid turbochargers feature:

  • Significantly upgraded compressor and turbine wheels
  • Optimized internals and precision machining
  • Greatly increased airflow capacity and boost efficiency at high RPM

The result is a turbo system capable of supporting extreme power levels while still maintaining strong spool characteristics and excellent mid-range response.

Supporting Performance Modifications

To ensure stable and reliable operation at this power level, several key supporting upgrades were installed:

  • MGmotorsport / MP-Tech Performance sport exhaust system with sport catalytic converters
  • BMC performance air filters
  • Wagner Tuning high-performance intercooler

These components reduce exhaust backpressure, improve intake airflow, and keep intake air temperatures under control under extreme load conditions.

Professional Installation and Calibration

The ECU calibration for this project was carried out by Vagtune.pl, ensuring precise control over boost pressure, fueling, and ignition timing.

Thanks to careful tuning and high-quality hardware, the engine delivers massive yet controllable power across the entire rev range, as confirmed by the dyno results.

At the core of this build is the MuchBoost EA888.4 550 Hybrid Turbocharger, specifically developed for the latest generation of VAG 2.0 TSI engines.

Based on the factory Continental turbo housing, the MuchBoost unit features:

  • A larger billet compressor wheel
  • An upgraded turbine wheel
  • Optimized internals and precision machining

This hybrid turbo offers significantly increased airflow capacity and improved efficiency at higher boost levels, while still maintaining fast spool and excellent throttle response. It is designed to support 500–550+ HP depending on fuel quality, engine setup, and calibration.

Supporting Performance Components

To ensure stable and reliable operation at this power level, a range of supporting upgrades was installed alongside the turbocharger.

Upgraded Intake and Charge System
Improved intake and charge piping reduces flow restrictions and pressure losses, allowing the turbocharger to operate more efficiently and maintain stable boost pressure.

Improved Cooling System
High-performance intercooling is essential at this output level to keep intake air temperatures under control and ensure consistent power delivery.

Exhaust and Fuel System Upgrades
A higher-flow exhaust system and necessary fuel system modifications ensure proper exhaust flow and safe fueling under increased boost pressure.

Professional Installation and Calibration

All mechanical work and ECU calibration for this project were carried out by experienced specialists from POWERSHOP and TVS Engineering.

The engine management software was precisely tuned to match the upgraded hardware, optimizing boost control, fueling, and ignition timing. The result is strong, smooth, and predictable power delivery across the entire rev range.
