Audi RS5 B9 2.9 TFSI with MuchBoost Hybrid Turbos. 620 HP & 800 Nm Performance Build

Audi RS5 B9 2.9 TFSI with MuchBoost hybrid turbos delivering 620 HP and 800 Nm performance build

The Audi RS5 B9 marks a new era of high-performance Audi models, replacing the legendary V8 and V10 engines with a more compact but extremely advanced 2.9 TFSI V6 twin-turbo powerplant. While downsizing has changed the character of these cars, it certainly has not taken away their performance potential.

In this project, the goal was to demonstrate how much performance can be extracted from the Audi 2.9 TFSI platform using a properly engineered MuchBoost Hybrid Twin Turbo upgrade and professional calibration. Working together with AMS Advance Motorsport Europe and Cougar Power Motorsport in Cyprus, this RS5 B9 was transformed into a truly impressive high-performance machine.

After the full upgrade and tuning, the car achieved:
– 620 HP at the crank
– 800 Nm of torque at the crank

These figures elevate the RS5 B9 well beyond its factory performance level while maintaining the refinement and drivability expected from an RS model.

Stock Performance

From the factory, the Audi RS5 B9 2.9 TFSI produces approximately:
– 450 HP
– 600 Nm

While already fast in stock form, the factory turbochargers and calibration leave significant room for improvement, especially when targeting power levels beyond 550 HP.

Upgraded Performance with MuchBoost

After installing the MuchBoost 2.9 TFSI Hybrid Twin Turbo Upgrade (650 HP variant) and completing professional ECU and gearbox calibration, the car achieved:

After Upgrade Performance:
– 620 HP (crank)
– 800 Nm (crank)

This demonstrates the enormous untapped potential of the Audi 2.9 TFSI engine when combined with properly engineered turbochargers and supporting modifications.

MuchBoost 2.9 TFSI Hybrid Twin Turbo System

At the core of this build is the MuchBoost 2.9 TFSI Hybrid Twin Turbo System, designed specifically for Audi and Porsche 2.9 TFSI applications.

This system features:

  • Upgraded compressor and turbine wheels
  • Optimized internals and precision machining
  • Increased airflow capacity and improved efficiency at higher boost levels

The result is a turbo system capable of supporting up to 650+ HP, depending on fuel quality, supporting hardware, and calibration.

Professional Installation and Calibration

All hardware installation and calibration work was carried out by AMS Advance Motorsport Europe, with the turbocharger kit supplied by Cougar Power Motorsport, the official MuchBoost dealer in Cyprus.

In addition to ECU tuning, the gearbox control software was also optimized to safely handle the increased torque output, ensuring smooth and reliable power delivery.

Dyno Results and Real-World Performance

The final results were measured using a ROTRONIC Hub Dyno, confirming the impressive gains in both power and torque.

With its combination of elegant design, refined interior, and now dramatically increased performance, this Audi RS5 B9 has become a truly fast and exciting grand tourer that is just as enjoyable to drive as it is to look at.
