Mercedes-AMG A45 S W177 with MuchBoost M139 Hybrid Turbo. 335 WKW & 564 Nm Performance Build

The Mercedes-AMG M139 engine is widely regarded as one of the most advanced and powerful production four-cylinder engines in the world. Found in the A45 S W177, it combines extremely high specific output, advanced engineering, and excellent tuning potential, making it a perfect platform for serious performance upgrades.

In this project, the goal was to significantly increase the performance of the Mercedes-AMG A45 S W177 using a properly engineered MuchBoost M139 Hybrid Turbo upgrade and carefully selected supporting modifications. The result is a brutally fast and extremely responsive hot hatch that still retains everyday usability.

After the full upgrade and professional calibration, the car achieved:
– 335 WKW at the wheels
– 564 Nm of torque at the wheels

These results show just how much potential is hidden in the already impressive M139 platform.

Stock Performance

From the factory, the Mercedes-AMG A45 S W177 produces approximately:
– 421 HP (about 310 kW)
– 500 Nm

While these numbers already make it one of the most powerful hot hatches ever built, the factory turbocharger becomes a limiting factor when aiming for significantly higher power levels.

Upgraded Performance with MuchBoost

After installing the MuchBoost M139 Hybrid Turbo Upgrade and completing all supporting modifications and ECU calibration, the car achieved:

After Upgrade Performance:
– 35 WKW at the wheels
– 564 Nm at the wheels

This represents a massive improvement over the stock configuration and clearly demonstrates the tuning potential of the M139 engine.

MuchBoost M139 Hybrid Turbocharger

At the heart of this build is the MuchBoost M139 Hybrid Turbocharger, designed specifically for the Mercedes-AMG M139 engine platform.

This hybrid turbocharger features:

  • Upgraded compressor and turbine wheels
  • Optimized internals and precision machining
  • Significantly increased airflow capacity and improved efficiency at higher boost levels

The result is a turbo system capable of supporting much higher power levels while maintaining fast spool and excellent throttle response.

Supporting Performance Modifications

To ensure reliable and efficient operation at this power level, several high-quality supporting components were installed:

  • Dyne Performance & Evotech downpipe
  • PSM / Armaspeed carbon cold air intake system
  • Evotech Motorsport ECU remap

These upgrades reduce exhaust backpressure, improve intake airflow, and allow precise control of the engine under increased boost pressure.

Professional Installation and Calibration

The installation and final setup of this project was completed by MB Star Motors, International Auto-Haus, and Evotech Australia.

Thanks to professional calibration and well-matched hardware, the car delivers extremely strong, smooth, and repeatable performance across the entire rev range, with even more potential left for future upgrades.
